Since 1988, hundreds of scientific studie have shown that human activities are changing the climate around the world. Most of the world’s top environmental scientists believe that climate change is the most serious problem we are facing today, more serious even than the threat of terrorism.

Last month, Jenny went to the circus with Edison and Shawn.
First, they saw the seals perform. The seals balanced themselves on tires and rolled round the ring. A seal on a stool balanced an umbrella on its nose. After that, the trainer fed them with fish.
The next show was the knife-throwing act. Jenny was afraid to watch it, so she covered her eyes with her hands. Not long after, it was the lion’s act. It was the most exciting performance. The lions jumped through the burning hoops. Everyone held their breath when the lion trainer put his head into the lion’s mouth.
Finally, it was the clown’s act. Jenny and her brothers liked the clown’s act best. They looked funny with their painted faces and baggy costumes. One of them swung a pail at Jenny. She screamed! Scraps of paper flew out the pail and the audiences laughed.

Princess Mandalika
Once upon a time in Lombok, there was a kingdom named Kuripan. The king of Kuripan was very wise. He had a daughter, named Mandalika. She was so beautiful. Many princes wanted to marry her. To choose the one that would be his son – in – law, the king had an arrow shooting competition. The best one would be Mandalika’s husband.
On the day of the competition, those princes shot their arrows. All of them did it perfectly. The king found it difficult to choose. Therefore, the princes began to fight and kill each other.
Princes Mandalika was so desperate. She didn’t want anyone killing each other because of her. That’s why she decided to go to the sea. She died in the south sea of Lombok. The king and princes were sad and felt guilty. They regretted and stopped fighting.
Until now, one day in every year, usually in February or March, people go to the south sea. On that day, a great number of worms come out from the sea. People call these worms nyale. People believe that those nyales are Princess Mandalika’s hair.

ORANGUTAN
Orangutans or Pongo pygmaeus belong to the Primate order. The orangutan spends
most of its time in trees. Each evening it builds a new treetop nest. They are endangered because of habitat lost and poachers keep on killing, owning, and exporting orangutans.They only live on the island of Borneo and in the northern corner of the island of Sumatra.
Orangutans are characterized by rough, long, reddish-brown fur. Male orangutans
are about 95 cm (37 in) in length and about 77 kg (170 lb) in weight. Females are smaller,reaching about 78 cm (31 in) in height and weighing only about 37 kg (81 lb). The male has puffy cheeks and a hanging throat-pouch.
